Vietnam Golf & Country Club (Thu Duc)

Established in 1994, Vietnam Golf & Country Club was the first 36-hole golf course in Vietnam, situated on a sprawling 300-hectare site that preserves much of the natural greenery. Comprising the West Course and the East Course—two layouts with distinct design styles—the club stands as one of the most long-standing and familiar golfing destinations in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.

Key features of Sea Links Golf & Country Club

Vietnam Golf & Country Club comprises two 18-hole courses that embody quite distinct design philosophies.

The West Course is the older layout, designed in a traditional Asian style featuring lines of trees along the fairways. The relatively narrow fairways, combined with fast, smooth greens, make shot accuracy a crucial factor. This course also hosted the Vietnam Open in 1995 and 1997.

Meanwhile, the East Course, designed by Lee Trevino, opened in September 1997. Compared to the West Course, the East features wider fairways, yet it is no less challenging; strategically placed bunkers, a system of water hazards, and undulating TifDwarf Bermuda greens require careful calculation throughout the round.

The contrast between the two layouts allows Vietnam Golf & Country Club to offer two distinct experiences within the same complex: one prioritizes accuracy and ball placement, while the other features a more open layout that heightens the challenge through the use of bunkers, water hazards, and complex green contours.

Golfing experience at Vietnam Golf & Country Club

Spanning approximately 300 hectares, the two courses were constructed amidst existing greenery and vegetation, minimizing extensive alterations to the terrain. This development approach lends the courses a natural feel, rather than appearing entirely man-made.

On the West Course, golfers need to pay close attention to their tee shot direction. The tree-lined fairways mean that straying off-line can quickly land the ball in a difficult spot. Fast greens also demand excellent speed control on approach shots and putts.

On the East Course, play is somewhat more open thanks to wide fairways, yet water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed to directly influence gameplay. Undulating greens require golfers not only to land the ball on the putting surface but also to carefully consider the ball's position following the approach shot.

Facilities and services at Sea Links Golf & Country Club

In addition to its 36-hole golf course, Vietnam Golf & Country Club features a range of country club-style amenities, including a clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop, practice area, private rooms, and caddie services. The official website also lists the Lakeview Villas, which provide on-site accommodation.

The main restaurant accommodates over 200 guests and serves a diverse menu featuring international cuisine. The Lakeview Villas offer additional accommodation options for golfers wishing to combine a round of golf with an on-site stay.

In addition to golf, the country club’s amenities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, a gym, and squash courts, creating a comprehensive sports and leisure environment rather than focusing solely on golf.

Two courses, two styles of golf.

The distinctive feature of Vietnam Golf & Country Club lies not merely in its 36 holes, but in the contrast between the East and West courses. The West Course is characterized by a tree-lined layout and narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy, whereas the East Course is more expansive yet presents different challenges involving water hazards, bunkers, and undulating greens.

After more than three decades of operation, Vietnam Golf & Country Club remains a notable destination in the South—a place where golfers can choose between two distinct playing styles in a single day, set amidst vast green surroundings just east of Ho Chi Minh City.

FlightGolf did not originate from an ambition to build a massive empire; rather, it was born out of the genuine dedication of Ms. Tran Quynh Hoa—a professional driven by heart and a desire to establish the standing of Vietnamese golf on the global stage.
